Imagine having your own private nature reserve to explore and enjoy for the day.

Canoes provide a great way to explore and see the wildlife

It’s sounds to good to be true but that’s what you can experience at Belisama’s Retreat!

Let our veteran instructors share their wilderness skills and experience with your family, a group of friends or work colleagues.

It can be either busy or, chilled at Belisama’s but either way, the day usually kicks off with you learning how to light a fire using some basic bushcraft tools. There’s nothing better than some fire cooked food on the banks of the river.

After brunch, the day is yours to explore this secret woodland on the banks of the river Ribble near Preston, Lancashire. We can take you on a canoe safari with a chance of seeing Kingfishers, Otters and waterfowl or, follow the animal tracks in search of flora and fungi. We share the woods with deer, badgers, and foxes and can show you tracking skills that will improve your chances of seeing them close up. Kids (and adults, come to think of it) love playing hide and seek and we can raise the bar with a fun introduction to stealth and camouflage. Or, why not heed the call to arms and learn marksmanship from a professional soldier?

Learn to light a fire using only basic bushcraft tools and what you can find in the forest.

Every adult who books with us pays for a British military veteran, who has put their life on the line for our country, to enjoy the same unique experience.

Spend some quality family time and give your kids the outdoor education that’s missing from modern life. Have a question? Check out our FAQ section or, send us a message

How do I book?

We fit these fundraising events around our primary objective of supporting British military veterans. They are usually attended by families or, groups of close friends and so, we do not publish set dates, instead, accommodating groups as and when we can.
